Professor Gabrielle McMullen AM FRACI BSc (Hons) PhD (Monash University) DUniv (Honoris Causa) (ACU)
Following postdoctoral research in Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow, Gabrielle McMullen joined the Department of Biochemistry at Monash University and also became Dean of its Catholic residence, Mannix College, in 1981. She was then Rector of Australian Catholic University’s (ACU) Ballarat campus from 1995-2000 and its Pro- and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) until February 2011. Following her retirement from ACU, she was firstly a Trustee of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and is now a Trustee Director of Mercy Ministry Companions.
Gabrielle’s other community contributions have encompassed membership of education, health, theology and community service boards. Her current roles include chair of the Australian Catholic Council for Pastoral Research and of the members of Emerging Futures Collaborative Ltd, member of PNG’s Divine Word University Council, of the University of Divinity Council (and its Deputy Chancellor), and of the Missionary Sisters of Service Stewardship Council, Trustee of the Opening the Doors Foundation, Director of Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Ltd, and President of the Australian Association of von Humboldt Fellows.
